You can’t count on the English Summer, but Autumn is usually splendid and this year is no exception. From beautiful sunny days to foggy mornings and howling winds, it’s been a fantastic season.
A couple of wonderfully bright days this week inspired me to put together this animated slideshow of some of my favourite Autumn photographs. Most of them have been taken in my garden or my local park, Dulwich Park, and show the variety of colours and growth, from pink roses and mushrooms growing in my lawn to the deep red of the Virginia Creeper.
The vivid yellow, orange, and red of the leaves has been breath-taking at times. I love the rustle of the leaves as I tramp through them, trying to make as much noise as possible and the damp misty mornings filled with mystery.
I used to despair at the onset of Autumn but this year I feel differently. Where I once associated Autumn with death and hibernation, I now feel invigorated and ready to put my head down and get down to work on the projects I’ve been planning over the Summer.
The chill in the air and the long dark evenings have got me making soups and stews and I’m looking forward to baking apple crumble and concocting hearty casseroles.
Enjoy the video. And let me know what you enjoy about Autumn by leaving a comment in the box below.
